Former Watford striker Troy Deeney believes Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is not as world-class as Vinicius Junior.
“Mo Salah is a fantastic player but the argument I’ve always made is he’s not world class,” Deeney told talkSPORT.
“Salah is a key player for Liverpool and the club should not allow the contract situation to get to this point, but I understand the financial structure they have to maintain.”
“The idea of world-class is just a matter of opinion. For me, a world-class player is someone I want my children to follow the example of how they play.”
“If my son wanted to play as a striker, I would tell him to watch what Vinicius Junior is doing rather than Mo Salah.”
However, Deeney is not convinced Salah is one of the best players in the world as, in his eyes, he doesn’t fulfil one criterion.
‘I think Mohamed Salah is excellent, he’s a pivotal part for Liverpool and they should never have let it [his expiring contract] get to this situation,’ Deeney told ยูฟ่าเบท http://ufabet999.app SPORT.
‘But I understand that there’s a financial structure around what they want to try and keep to.
“The efficiency and the goals, Salah is amazing, but he’s not the best. Of course if he hears about it, he’ll be asking, ‘Who’s Deeney?’ And Salah has every right to do that, but it’s my opinion.”
Salah has continued his impressive form this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in his first 17 games in all competitions, helping Liverpool top both the Premier League and the Champions League.
