Southampton defender Jack Stephens has been banned for two matches. And fined £50,000 for abusing the referee and the fourth official. After being sent off at Manchester United last month.

Stephens was sent off by Stuart Atwell for a foul on Alejandro Garnacho during Southampton’s home game at Manchester United last month.

The 30-year-old has admitted to FA commissioners that he used foul language towards Attwell. And fourth official Gavin Ward as he left the pitch. Ward

told the commission that Stephens had called him “fucking little cunt”, a slur for female genitalia. Before the player walked back onto the pitch to hand the captain’s armband to his team-mate.

As he walked off the pitch again, Stephens was seen telling Ward “You’re a cunt”. Using the same term when insulting Atwell.
